Chief John Nwodo came on a board as the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo at a historic time when Igbo need to put their political and ideological differences aside to enable Ndigbo regain their lost their nation of Biafra. Since the new administration came on board it has shown in words and action that it is ready to take Ndigbo to a higher level.
On the Biafra struggle, he made this statement to Biafra Agitators, specifically the IPOB and the MASSOB, “no matter how divided they appear in public are basically motivated by the same sense of outrage and bitterness. Our young men and women can no longer tolerate a second class status in their own country.
He described as a ticking time bomb the maiming and killing unarmed members MASSOB and IPOB members by the law enforcement agents and pledged his support to the Biafra course. In his words, “As President of Ohanaeze, I intend to extend my warm hand of paternity to IPOB and MASSOB. They are my children. I shall never desert them. Their struggle is my struggle”, he further added that this was an era of “a sustained and active fight for the restructuring of our federation, an ear of a strong and all involving Ohanaeze.
It can recalled that so many has shown same body language in the past and compromised later on. Some quarters believe that this is a gimmick to attract the interest of the FG into compensating him as the amount of pressure one puts determines the measure of his compensation. People like Rochas Okorocha, Peter Obi, Ngige has towed this path in the past. Biafrans here are holding their trust close to themselves. Nonetheless, they believe strongly in Nnamdi Kanu and has shown an unprecedented solidarity to the Biafra leader.
