The APC guber candidate in Enugu State, Barr. Okey Ezea, who addressed journalists alongside Dr. Ben Nwoye, the State Chairman of the party, described the election as a sham.
According to Ezea, “it was nothing but a sham; it was marred by intimidation, harrasment, ballot box snatching, physical injury on APC thugs.
“PDP imported more than 5000 thugs, especially in Nsukka area; result sheets were also not available, result sheets were sold before the election”.
He further lamented that even though the REC had instructed that their should be no elections where result sheets were not available, compromised INEC officials formulated figures in most of the polling booths.
He said INEC sold more than 60 percent PVCs to the PDP, adding that “they used these cards to accredit themselves and then they used violence supported by the police”.
“As far as we are concerned, this is massive fraud and most of you saw it”, he alleged.
He added that, “All the elections held in my community were all a sham, in Unadu, Nkalagu, Enugu Ezike, all those communities, there was no election, and that’s the result they
“As far as we are concerned, there was no election in Enugu State, so we call on the INEC to cancel the exercise and fix a date for a fresh election
“We cannot continue with this rubbish in Enugu State any longer; all of you are witnesses to what happened yesterday and if that is what we should expect in Enugu State, it is very unfortunate.
“They want to push us out of the politics of Enugu State but that will not happen; we shall never give up.
“A Hillux load of policemen from government house Enugu, Vitus Eze and one other thug, invaded my polling booth, where more than 600 people had gathered; they came to shoot me, that was what happened to Fidel Ayogu in 2003; they killed 9 persons and slaughtered the orderly to Fidel Ayogu when their bullets finished.
“What is the problem? Must it be a do or die affair? Why are they afraid; must they unleash this kind of violence?”
The Deputy Governorship candidate of the APC, Barr. Chikaodili Ibekaku described the outcome of the exercise as “state capture”.
She expressed worry that the APC members in the State would live in fear throughout the tenure of the incoming PDP government in Enugu State.Also, the State party chairman, Barr. Ben Nwoye said he had already sent a petition to the INEC asking it a fix a date for fresh election.
